The true crime documentary titled "The Speedway Murders"
The true crime documentary titled "The Speedway Murders" tells the story of four young Burger Chef employees who were kidnapped from a restaurant on Crawfordsville Road on Nov. 17, 1978.
In the small town of Speedway, Indianapolis four employees of a Burger Chef restaurant went missing at the end of a Friday night shift. “The police initially suspected a petty theft by the work crew.
“By the time their bodies were found on Sunday and the investigation elevated to multiple murders, the crime scene had been cleaned and the restaurant re-opened for business.”
The project was “crafted through stunning re-enactments and tense witness interviews, Speedway unravels mishandled evidence and wild revelations that cater to the most insatiable true crime appetite."
The Speedway Murders is co-directed by filmmakers Adam Kamien and Luke Rynderman, making their feature directorial debut. The four actors portraying the murder victims in the reenactment scenes were Essie Randles (as Jayne, the fast-food restaurant’s assistant manager), Nya Cofie (as Mark), Davida McKenzie (as Ruth), and Joseph Zada (as Dan)
The movie premiered at the 2023 Adelaide Film Festival last year and next plays at the 2024 New Zealand Film Festival. It will also open in Australian cinemas later in 2024.
